Coaches & Staff


Coach Davis enters her 26th season of coaching girl’s basketball in Northeast Ohio, the last nine seasons with the Lady Pups.   She is a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and played basketball and ran track for the Falcons. She completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Akron where she also played basketball for the Zips, beign named to the All-Conference and All -America Team. Coach Davis has been inducted into 3 Halls of Fame: The University of Akron, Summit County and Austintown Fitch. Her jersey hangs from the rafters at the JAR Arena.

Coach Davis has compiled an overall  record of 462-92 including 18 Sectional Titles, 7 District Titles, 2 Regional Titles and 1 State Championship in 2010. She has been named Coach of The Year on 6 different occasions.

Coach Davis is currently a Speech Language Pathology for McKinley Senior High. She has been married to her husband Willie for 20 years. They reside in Akron. 


Coach Davis enters his 26th year of coaching girl’s basketball. He is a graduate of Akron Garfield High School where he was a three sport stand out in football, basketball and track. Coach Davis attended The University of Akron, playing wide receiver for the Zips where is he received numerous awards and accolades. Coach Davis is an Akron Firefighter and has served the community for 25 years. He has many nieces, nephews and God children. He and his wife, Pam, reside in Akron.


Dave Nash is a 1981 graduate of Canton Timken Senior High School and currently works as the Director of Youth Sports for the Meyers Lake YMCA (The former CYC Community Recreation Center).  Dave has been working with young athletes for 30+ years particularly with women's basketball.  Dave began his career as a 7th grade & freshmen girls' basketball coach for the Marlington School District in 1986. Dave moved on to become the JV Coach for Canton Central Catholic High School in 1989.  In 1996 Dave became head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas and spent 16 years (1996-2012) as the head coach for the Lady Knights and just recently concluded his head coaching career at Akron Garfield in 2015.  Dave is to begin his 2nd season with the Lady Bulldogs, his native Canton City School heritage.  In addition, Dave assists his wife, Valarie Dominick Nash as an assistant coach for the University of Mount Union Cheerleaders.  The two live in Massillon, Ohio and have a daughter, Victoria who is currently a junior at UMU. 



Coach Johnson begins his second season with the Canton McKinley Lady Pups with 16 years of basketball coaching experience. Coach Johnson is a graduate of the University of Akron. During 2013-2015 Coach Johnson was the head coach at Cleveland Central Catholic girls basketball program. Coach Johnson co-founded girls AAU Mentoring Program the Blue Angels (2001) and also founded the Born Again basketball Mentoring Program (2005). These programs help produced several college players. Coach Johnson is Akron Police Officer where he also serves as a School Resource Officer. He has served the community for over 16 years.
