Canton McKinley football coach Dan Reardon, in his 2nd year at McKinley, has a career record of 90-51 (.600), 3 state championships, and 4 state championship appearances.
Reardon started his coaching career in the college ranks as a graduate assistant, first on Jim Tressel's staff at Youngstown State, and then with Cam Cameron at Indiana. He then became an assistant from 1998-2003 at Warren Harding under coaches Gary Barber and Thom McDaniels. Reardon moved on to Youngstown Ursuline in 2004. Posting a record of 72-29 while at Ursuline, Reardon’s teams appeared in four state championship games, winning three straight from 2008-2010.
He also coached in a Division I state championship game in 2003 at Warren Harding.
A move out west ensued, and Coach Reardon found himself as head coach at Poudre High School, near Fort Collins, Colorado for two years, starting in 2012. Last season, Reardon moved to Wheat Ridge High School, and coached the Farmers to a 6-4 record.
Coach Reardon, in his initial McKinley campaign in 2015, went 7-4 and beat Massillion 30-28.

Coach Grimsley returns for his 10th season to the McKinley staff as defensive coordinator for 2016. As an assistant coach at McKinley he was picked to serve as an East - West All-Star Game assistant coach in 2012. Before coaching at McKinley, Josh served as a coach at Souers Middle school in 2005. Notable athletes he has coached include Steve Miller- 2008-2011 (OSU/Carolina Panthers), Se'Von Pittman - 2009- 2012 (OSU/Akron), Tre'Vonte Jackson - 2010-2013 (Toledo, Ashland), Jamal Davis- 2011-2014 (Pitt Panthers)

Josh graduated from McKinley High School where he earned athletic honors such as being a 3-Year Letterwinner in football and baseball, 2002 Team Captain, 1st Team All-County WHBC and Repository, 1st Team All-NE Inland District. Honorable Mention All-Ohio (2002), Don Scott Award (McKinley Football), and Academic Award winner (McKinley Football). He then went on to attend Malone University and Walsh University.

Josh lives in Canton with his wife of 6 years, Tiffany. They have one son, Grant (5). Josh works in the safety and security department for Canton City Schools.


Coach Henry begins his 6th year on staff at McKinley. He has served as the bulldogs quarterbacks coach, freshman head coach, and running backs coach. He also serves on the baseball staff at McKinley. Former athletes he coached include Tyler Foster and Eric Glover-Williams (Ohio State).

Ryan played football at McKinley for Coach Thom McDaniels, where he was a team captain and three year starter at quarterback. He then went on the play for BGSU under coach Gary Blackney and was again a three year starter, as well as runner-up for MVP in the Mid-American Conference.

After graduating from Canton McKinley, Coach Henry attended Bowling Green State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Interpersonal Communication.

Ryan and wife Tammy live in Green with their daughter McKenna (10).


Coach Hedrick returns for his 3rd season as McKinley as defensive backs coach and 6th season over all. Mike served as the head freshman coach from 2004 – 2007. He then was an assistant running backs, wide receivers and defensive backs coach at Canton South from 2008 – 2013. He will also serve as the head track coach this year for the Bulldogs.

Mike played for McKinley, and was a 3-year letterman in football and track. His football accomplishments include winning the Don Scott Award in 1988 and all-county honors in 1988. He was also all-Ohio in track in 1989.

Coach Hedrick, a Canton Township resident, graduated from Kent State with a degree in business administration. He is the parts manager at Kempthorn's, and has one daughter, Taylor (19).


Coach Patterson returns to McKinley this year coaching the offensive line. He brings a wealth of coaching experience, not only from his tenure at McKinley, but in his previous stops as well. Coach Patterson served as an assistant coach at East Canton in 1996 and 1997. He then spent 1998 as an assistant at Fairless High School. Coach Patterson then returned to East Canton as an assistant in 1999 and 2000. In 2001, he was elevated to head coach of the Hornets, a position he held until 2007. In 2002 at East Canton, Coach Patterson was named coach of the East in the Repository East –West Game, and was also named NEO Inland Coach of the Year.

Dan graduated from Akron University with a Bachelors and Master's degree in Education. He lives in Canton with his wife of 16-years, Heidi. The have three children: Emma (14), Creed (12) and Stone (10). Dan is a teacher at McKinley High School.
