Unfortunately, I am also hearing that there is no agreement with Mike Bates and the process continues to march on.

This might tell ya it little bit...

scroll down to "leading candidate"

The rumor mill indicated that he turned down the job.....possibly because his wife is an administrator in a Columbus school and there'd be no similar position for her in Canton.

Have no idea if it's true, but what I've heard is that the top three candidates (Joyce, Bates, and the Warren Harding coach) turned down offers.

Anyone know what the monetary restrictions are for this position? For example, in Bates situation, does the district have an administrator position to offer his wife? I'm guessing not given the reduction in overall staffing, but I don't know.

For that matter, is Bates a teacher....does this hire have to be employable within the system?

I hope you heard right. On paper....he sounds like a good choice.

If he took the job, we'll hear about it pretty soon.

Here's what I think I know (from what I can piece together down here in Cbus). Mike Bates would love the job. We would love to have him. But the admin / super is not interested in trying to work out how to get him. If true, it's unfortunate because it means institutionally we are not willing to go above and beyond to bring in people. It means McK athletics isn't anything special in our decision makers' eyes. Not only is that bad for our athletes and the school, but it's bad for Canton, OH.

Should we be, once again, flooding the email box of the administrators? It seems so!

Like I said on the other thread I heard Joyce, Bates, Culp and Elliot from day one. The Warren coach was also considered but there was something there where he needed 1 more year at Harding. I can't remember what that was about though.

Does anybody know anything about Culp? I don't even know his first name and he's from somewhere up in Akron. And of course Evans pick is Elliot and that's basically the white elephant in the room. My opinion McKinley ends up with Culp or Elliot. But I also can't believe there hasn't been coaches going through back channels to get there name before the committee. JAF might be correct. We may have to start flooding mail boxes again because Evans sure ruined this process.

Say what you want about me but if I find out there was some really good coaches we lost because of Evans, I'm done with McKinley till she leaves. I'll support from afar but that's it.

at least she is looking elsewhere for a job.

at this point i don't want to see them hire somebody just to hire somebody by the date they have to. they are almost better off with somebody taking over for 1 year - then hoping that resnick and allen are gone by next year. with 3 board members to audit her she won't be able to pull this crap.

sounds weird - but does anyone see malone taking the job along with AD for one year? if things can turn around they may be able to get a quality coach in here. getting your 4th choice for multi years would just make things worse.

JLP: It can be. Just depends on if your prospective employer wants your services badly enough to make it happen. They're asking the guy to move from Columbus to Canton, and lose half his family's income? The guy's not a volunteer. But hey, if it's too much then it's too much and the search moves on.

does his wife work in the school system in columbus ? if so, and he really wants to be a bulldog then his wife and he could work it out where he is here and she is still there ... columbus is only 1hr 45 minutes away... i currently know of 2 school adminstrators that were in Canton and took jobs in Columbus but kept their family and home here in Canton... it can be done
