Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postIt is unfolding as I have stated in my prior post. The application process is just a formality.Malone will be appointed AD.
I hope what I was told about Dru Joyce is also true. Last edited by MCK21 on Sat May 14, 2011 6:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post
What school is Dru Joyce coaching at ??? This is IUDOGS signing off.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postAkron St.Vincent/St.Mary,he's been there awhile. He coached Lebron several years and has won several state championshjps.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postHe would be a good choice, but I would like a younger guy, but he would be a good guy for the job.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postWill Joyce have the same success without the obvious benefit of filling your rosters with players from all around? I'm not sure, but I won't assume he can either. WHERE CHAMPIONS ARE MADE AND SUCCESS IS TRADITION
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postThis crazy BOE may try to bring the Timken coach over,it's been done before.I can't wait to see the list if they open it up outside of CCS,should be some shockers on it.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postWill they open it up, and will Timken's coach actually want the job?
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post
That's a valid question.I think he will be able to at least keep the the excellent players that come thru the canton system.I think with the best players coming back to Mck,the opportunity to get into the regionals will be greater.Dru Joyce, no matter what, would be a huge upgrade.I was told that he feels that he can win with the talent at hand. The question remains, how would he leave a program that has been so successful,to come here.Dru is not a teacher,he on a supplemental coaching contract. No teaching position would have to be filled.I'm hoping the source of people that have told me what was going to transpire continues. So far they are right on it starting with Malone moving into the AD position.I guess we will see how this all plays out.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post
DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE DRU THING, BUT WE ALL HAVE KNOWN FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS THAT mALONE WAS GOING TO GET THE AD JOB!!! I'M NOT SURE HOW I FEEL ABOUT DRU YET, LETS SEE WHO APPLIES!
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD posti wonder if greynolds would apply.
I've watched the dogs of war enjoying their feast, I've seen the western world go down in the east...
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postBite your tongue Browns32.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postThis appointment will be disappointing…John Twinem should get this position. He was student of the Canton City School system, a McKinley Alumni, played sports at McKinley and was on the coaching staff that helped get the two football championships in ’97 & ’98. I may be mistaken but I believe he also has a Master Degree and he will bring the McKinley athletes where they should be both with choosing the best coaches and discipline that is much needed.
Hmmmm, people wonder why CCS students do not stay in our city.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postJohn will be a great replacement for Lynn Wafler when he retires... His time will come! Love Waf but I'm sure his years are numbered. Big Twinem fan. Good luck with the new position mr. Malone.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post@Alum11
If he wants Waf's position...John can make the right decisions in difficult situations for the betterment of the program.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postIf John Twinem was so interested in McKinley athletics, why hasn't he been involved with the program in a decade? Coach Malone was on a coaching staff that helped get two state championships and numerous final fours. And that was as the varsity assistant, not a freshman coach. Give me a break. Coach Malone has more years invested in McKinley athletics than John Twinem, and that includes John's playing days.
Greg Malone is a good call for a number of reasons. We have enough controversy as it is without people trying to create more out of thin air. Let's get on the ball, people.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postAgree with Mck fan post. Greg Malone has been here 16 years is as well respected teacher (I believe he runs the work studies program at the school) who was Coach Hoover's right hand man during the state championship seasons. Greg is respected by his peers and by the local media and will represent Canton Mckinley with class. As a head coach Greg has had his ups and downs but his work ethic and ability to work with others make him a solid choice for AD. I'm sure some of the other candidates were worthy also but once again Greg has been involved in teaching and coaching at Mckinley for 16 straight years. Good luck AD Malone.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postGreg Malone moving from basketball coach to AD at McKinley
http://www.cantonrep.com/highschool/x15 ... c-director CANTON — After just five seasons as McKinley High School’s boys basketball coach, Greg Malone isn’t ready for a rocking chair. He’s ready to handle all the chairs in McKinley’s athletic department. Malone will be recommended to the Board of Education as McKinley’s athletic director at the June 13 meeting. Now that Director of Physical Activities Lynn Wafler filled one position, he has immediately created work for Malone: filling the boys basketball position. read more, hit the link. ![]() Advertise with us, SCaster@CantonMcKinley.com --------------------------------- http://www.cooperdisposal.com
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postAs long as he is not a Coach of anything at Mckinley I am Happy. You could not hire a worse coach then ol Malone. So the future looks brighter already. Only took 5 years though. WOW.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postWho will be helping MR.Malone on selecting a new hoops coach?
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postindeed RAYMO ...very good question...lots of questions to ponder...will Mr. Creamer apply for the job? will we get alot of outside the area/state interest in the job??? very curious days coming ahead....
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postI would think all the experts that wanted Malone out would have thought about this already ..
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postOpps!

ARE YOU ON CRACK WITH THIS LINE RINGO? Hoover yes Great Coach. MALONE Great Coach are you serious. WORST COACH EVER. He is the Reason you and about 5 other people show up to their games anymore. CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postpappy, the thing to fear now is with the board we have , what are the chances they hire the right guy?
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postHow about Bruce Pearl from University of Tennessee? I think he is trying to resurrect his coaching carreer and it will be a long time until he coaches again in College!
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post
that's the million dollar question. i am also wondering if they will open it to outside applicants - or if they are set on hiring from within. hiring from within means just filling a coaching slot - and not having to fill another position for teaching. I've watched the dogs of war enjoying their feast, I've seen the western world go down in the east...
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postscot la rocks you are exactly right. Hoping that the board makes a good decision is like hoping for no more tonadoes this summer. Odds are not good if not horrible.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postI hope they put together a committee like they did for the football hire. Not that it was a great hire, but with 7-9 people involved the chances of getting the right guy are better.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postI agree, the more people the better. When is the closing date to apply?
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postDid you guys read the paper today? Reading between the lines, it seems to say that if someone in house wants the job they have to be offered it. Hopefully I interpreted this wrong.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postThe vacancies at both Massillon and McKinley are the primary topic of this week's Sunday Special.

Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD post
Not true. If that was the case Karovic would have gotten the football job when Cross left.
Re: McKinley coach Malone applies for AD postDid Karovic want it?
