Continuity

Postby MADDOG20 » Wed Feb 22, 2012 1:50 am

Ignatius has 11 titles because they understand the value of continuity. McKinley hasn't won a title since 1998 because they haven't had the same coach for more than four years.

There is some validity to the above thread. But the writer intentionally omitted the reasons regarding why Mckinley has not had the same coach for more than four years. For the sake of clarification, please allow me to share the reasons.

Coach Kerry Hodakievic resigned one week before the Stark County Prosecutor's Office in-concert with Canton City Prosecutor's Office and the Canton Law Director released to the public a 50 page, heavily redacted, investigative report. The investigation focused on the proceeds from the lift-a- thon and the purchase and/or lack of purchase of rings. Also, two weeks after his resignation, the Office of Civil Rights for the United States Department of Education, pursuant to a parent claim of racial discrimination, released its findings to the public. The parent's name was redacted, due to law.

Coach John Spider Miller, fired. After a overhall record of 14-16 and a 3-7 season the BOE fired Coach Miller.

Coach Brian Cross, resigned five months before his contract expired, to take a new coaching and teaching positon at Olentangy Orange High School in the Columbus area. It was reported in the Repository that Coach Cross wife (Karen) lived in Grove City for more than 18 years, had alot of family there and wanted to return home. Also, Mckinley paid Coach Cross about $67,000 a year and Olentangy Orange increased his salary to $90,000 a year with less responibilities.

Coach Ron Johnson, non re-newal of his supplmental contract that paid $7,500 a year. The previous Board vote was spilt 2-2, last year regarding his employment. Board member Eric Resnick made reference to a work plan signed by the Director of Physical Activities Lynn Wafler, the Schools Principal, Dee Stokes Davis and Coach Johnson. Under the topic of character within the work plan/evaluation four items are listed for improvement: Omit foul language, build better communication with parents and/or community, built positive relationships with our familes. Also, the lack of study tables is address within the evaluation.

Member Resnick stated, " 16 days later Lynn Wafler turns around and writes that glowing evaluations. It's an evaluation that basically glows so brightly you need to have sunglasses on to look at it. You can't trust them side by side. One of those documents is grossly wrong. Either the work plan is total nonsense or the evaluation is total nonsense."

Moreover, a number of posters on this website less than a year ago was calling for Ron Johnson removal. One poster last year wrote, "Johnson is a below average coach" But today, the same poster(s) are demanding his reinstatement. I find that very strange and odd.

Strange and odd alright.

But not for the reasons you've listed.

Given that I was the "writer," I'll take issue with your suggestion that I "intentionally omitted" content. Given that you don't know me, and you haven't spoken to me, how the heck do you know what my intentions are? Fact is, you don't! I didn't omit anything, therefore, there was no intentional ommission. I simply pointed out that McKinley has not had the continuity in coaching necessary to have the type of success that programs like St. Ignatius has had, and one reason for that is the fact (and it is fact) that McKinley hasn't had a coach for more than 5 years since 1997.

A simple review of the archives will demonstrate that the reasons that you listed aren't accurate. Regardless, it's not relevant to my post.....it doesn't matter why they were only at McKinley a few years, what matters is that it keeps happening!

If Mckinley were a private school it would have a number of titles in football to rank right up there with the Ignatius' of the world ... that has as much to do with it as continuity does
