Golden Eagles hand Pups first league loss
Maddalyn Repp scored 21 points for GlenOak as the Golden Eagles downed host McKinley on the road in Federal League play.
“The team played well,” GlenOak head coach Paul Wackerly said. “The bench did a great job today. It was just a total team effort.”
The Bulldogs were previously unbeaten in the Federal League. McKinley and GlenOak both now have just one loss apiece in conference play.
“This was not a championship game,” Wackerly said. “We’re happy today, but we know there is a lot of basketball left to be played. We also know that after this the bull’s-eye on our back is going o be a little bit bigger as well.”
Shelby Henkel added 15 points for GlenOak.
Angela Dave also contributed 11 points for the Golden Eagles.
“Our progress has been really good,” Wackerly said. “Things just clicked today. We haven’t always played as well as we’ve wanted to play, but this proves that as long as you work hard while you are waiting, good things eventually do happen.”
Ty Newkirk led McKinley with 17 points.
Charday Pitts also scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.
