McKinley
week 1 opponent update:
McKinley
football has indeed signed the Solon Comets to play at Fawcett
Stadium in week 1 of the 2008 football season. It appears
that this is a one-year contract. Coach Ron Johnson has stated
his desire for McKinley to play at home in week 1 every year
so it is likely that we will see a new opponent in week 1
of 2009. This was the last game needing to be scheduled for
the 2008 season. This will be the best week one match-up we
have seen at Fawcett in years, no doubt and here's hoping
the McKinley faithful show up in droves to see what the new
regime has brought to McKinley football. Those wanting a sneak
peak at the 2008 Bulldogs can plan on coming to Dublin, Ohio
on August 15th for a game-conditions scrimmage against the
Coffman Shamrocks
at 7:00 pm at Coffman Stadium.
McKinley
week 1 opponent update:
The
bulldogs continue their quest for a week one opponent. Right
now the options appear to be Solon and Richmond, Indiana. Financial
considerations put McKinley in the siutation of having to be
very wise when they choose to play an away game. Because McKinley
athletics fund Canton City Schools athletics, the athletic administration
is doing their due diligence to make sure the numbers add up.
In a season in which the Massillon game is away, having only
five home games could be a detriment to the athletic budget's
bottom line. McKinley should have their week one opponent locked
up in seven to ten days.
